Temple Grandin walked away with seven Emmys last Sunday evening. I had seen the movie only days before the award ceremony, and was blown away by the true story of an autistic woman who, with the unwavering support of her mother, persevered to overcome the disabilities brought about by her autism. She has become a renowned scientist and speaker on autism and the behavior of cattle. She developed many new systems for the handling of livestock, design of facilities and humane slaughter of cattle.
It is available on DVD, so if you haven't seen it, do so. You will be amazed and inspired.
The real Temple Grandin shown with Claire Danes, whose brilliant portrayal of Dr. Grandin in the HBO movie landed earned her an Emmy.
